We did have a lovely stay, thank you. In addition to the general high standard of the cottage, the bed was extremely comfortable – something we were very grateful for as we sometimes find that little thought is given to this aspect of holiday accommodation! Medstead is located on the Pilgrims Way midway between the cathedral cities of Winchester and Guildford (20 minutes drive). Close to Jane Austen's Chawton and the picturesque Georgian market town of Alresford (10 minute drive). Away from busy main roads yet within easy access of all the main attractions Hampshire has to offer. Medstead has a pretty 11th century church and has its own village shop, post office and pub, The Castle of Comfort, which are within walking distance of The Barn.
The Barn (graded 4-star by the Visit Britain organisation) is a peaceful rural retreat situated in over 10 acres of private grounds including wild flower meadows and ancient woodland with all the associated flora and fauna. The woods are a mass of bluebells in the spring. Situated adjacent to the main farm house The Barn remains very private with its own entrance, off road parking space, private patio and garden area with seating. Children are free to roam across the paddocks and explore the woods and are welcome to help groom Tiffany, our pony, or feed and collect eggs from our flock of friendly bantams.
Home grown produce is available to purchase according to the seasons.
